6.1 CONTINUOUS LEARNING
Candidates demonstrate continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies and apply them to improve personal productivity and professional practice.
The professional development transcript artifact lists all of the professional development classes I completed while working in Dekalb County Schools. I printed this document out for my records from their employee system before transferring to Gwinnett County. The Mimio training certificate shows completion of the Mimio training that I participated in at the beginning of this school year.

These artifacts show mastery of standard 6.1: candidates demonstrate continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies and apply them to improve personal productivity and professional practice. Many of the classes I completed while working in Dekalb County were on current and emerging technologies and how to apply them. The Mimio training I attended taught me how to best utilize the Mimio I have in my current classroom. Using the Mimio improves my efficiency as a teacher by saving me time and effort, and speaks to my willingness to utilize current and emerging technologies in my classroom. My continued efforts to stay on top of the most recent technologies have helped me to improve my effectiveness as a teacher. Utilizing technology in my classroom helps me to be more productive and efficient. These artifacts show that I make every effort to continue my professional learning in all areas, including technology.

My participation in these professional development opportunities has taught me how important it is to stay on top of the changing best practices in education, especially technology. Technology changes fast and often, and if I am not changing with it then I am doing myself and my students a disservice. One way I would change these artifacts is that I would've kept my own records of all of the professional development opportunities I participated in while teaching in Dekalb, instead of relying solely on the county to do it for me.

These artifacts, and the work it took to complete the classes that make up the artifacts, have an impact on my own professional development. Continuing to grow and learn in my profession helps me become the best teacher I can be. This also has an impact on student learning. These impacts can be measured by my continued growth as an educator and my students' continued gains.
