2.7 ASSESSMENT

Candidates model and facilitate the effective use of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to measure student learning and technology literacy, including the use of digital assessment tools and resources.

This artifact is a paper I wrote when I was working on my Master's Degree. The paper discusses multiple components of an instructional unit I created. The last paragraph specifically discusses technology driven assessment tools and their uses.

This artifact demonstrates mastery of standard 2.7: candidates model and facilitate the effective use of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to measure student learning and technology literacy, including the use of digital assessment tools and resources. The discussion in this paper on assessments shows that I am familiar with different types of digital assessment tools and resources, and that I know how to facilitate them correctly. I specifically discuss different digital assessment tools for each type of assessment: diagnostic, formative, and summative. I also mention that the specific assessments I discuss are only a few of the technology based assessments available. Perhaps the most important thing to know in this area is that a multitude of these types of assessments exisist, and are readily accessible on the Internet. Anytime I want or need a new one I simply have to conduct an online search or discuss with my colleagues which ones they use.

When creating this artifact I learned that using technology to assess students is both easy and effective. So many digital resources exist and many of them will store student data for you so it is easy to track students progress as well. One thing I would change about this artifact is I would include the district assessments that we give students in my current school district. We give students an online district created assessment in each subject twice a semester. The use of these assessments help us see which standards the students have mastered and which they need more instruction in.

This artifact has an impact on student achievement. Increasing my knowledge regarding the different types of online assessments available to me helps me more effectively assess what my students have learned and what they still need to learn. This has a direct positive impact on student learning. This impact can be assessed by monitoring student progress.
