2.8 DATA ANALYSIS
Candidates model and facilitate the effective use of digital tools and resources to systematically collect and analyze student achievement data, interpret results, communicate findings, and implement appropriate interventions to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning.
The data analysis artifact is a document containing screen shots from my current schools' online assessment portal. These screen shots show the breakdown of my current class' most recent math district assessments. In Gwinnett County all students in grades 3-5 take district wide assessments twice a semester in order to check for understanding of the standards that have been taught, and measure growth. I created this document to show one of the ways I use digital tools and resources to collect and analyze student achievement data.
This artifact demonstrates mastery of standard 2.8: candidates model and facilitate the effective use of digital tools and resources to systematically collect and analyze student achievement data, interpret results, communicate findings, and implement appropriate interventions to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning. After the students take these assessments the teachers have access to a breakdown of results in the online portal. We can utilize this information to guide our instruction in order to ensure that we are effectively meeting the needs of each student. After each of these assessments are completed by all students each grade level team meets with the math and literacy coaches to go over these itemized results. We look at which questions a large percentage of students answered incorrectly. We then look at those questions, try to determine why the students missed them, and come up with a plan to address whatever the common misconception seems to be. By doing this we are using the data that is at our disposal to drive instruction, and determine how to best maximize student learning.

Utilizing the data that is shown in this artifact teaches me a great deal. I am able to see where my students' strengths are as well as where their weaknesses are. I am then able to come up with a plan to best address those weaknesses. One thing I would like to improve about this artifact is that I would have the portal include the actual questions as well as the students' answer choices. That would better help us teachers ensure we are addressing the specific areas of need.

Utilizing this portal has an impact on student learning. Having access to this portal I am able to evaluate what my students need extra help with. I am then able to address those areas in my lessons, and ensure that I am going back over any areas of weakness. This impact can be measured by evaluating my students' growth on their next district assessment.
