2.1 CONTENT STANDARDS AND STUDENT TECHNOLOGY STANDARDS

Candidates model and facilitate the design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences aligned with student content standards and student technology standards.

This artifact was created by me for a Franklin Roosevelt lesson I taught this school year. This lesson implemented technology-enhanced learning experiences aligned with Gwinnett County's content standards.

This lesson plan demonstrates mastery of standard 2.1: candidates model and facilitate the design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences aligned with student content standards and student technology standards. This lesson plan requires students to take the research they have gathered on Franklin Roosevelt and create a Fakebook page with that information. The students have to first enter the information into a Facebook template. They do this using a laptop. They will then use that template to create a Fakebook page online. Fakebook is an online tool for teachers and students to create fake Facebook pages for people or subjects. This lesson plan clearly demonstrates my ability to design and implement technology-enhanced learning experiences aligned with content and technology standards.

One thing I learned while designing and teaching this lesson is that students really are much more engaged when any technology is involved in their lesson. The students in my class have done research projects before, but having them use the Fakebook site made the lesson so much more relevant to them. They were more engaged throughout. One way I could improve this artifact would be to include one of the student created Fakebook pages for Franklin Roosevelt.

This lesson impacts student learning. As I stated the students were thoroughly engaged in this lesson, and their enthusiasm showed, and added to their ability to retain the information. This impact can be measured by asking the students about the lesson. It can also be measured by comparing the results of the Franklin Roosevelt test to those of Frederick Douglas, whom the students also completed a research project on, but it did not include technology.
